Unique Winter Color Combinations That Will Warm Up Any Wardrobe
To say that Winter is coming is a severe understatement.
Baby, it's cold outside. It's pitch black out by 5 p.m., and the seasonal urge to rot is seriously starting to hit. In this drab and dread, it feels only right to reach for the darkest colors in the closet. However, we're here to tell you there's no reason to cut your wardrobe options in half for the sake of wearing "winter colors". In fact, all the more reason to layer up with fun color combinations - an underrated way to brighten up these colder months to come.
The color wheel isn't as intimidating as you think. Once mastered, you won't need to schedule a color analysis to turn out eye-catching ensembles every time. Here are the best combos for your Winter style rebrand.
BURGUNDY & BUTTER YELLOW
Did you cave to the butter yellow craze last year, too? We don't blame you —the buttery pastel embodies softness, nostalgia, and warmth—all the feelings we love to cozy up to in the wintertime. This season, we've been loving creamy, pastel yellows as accents against deep reds, wines, and burgundies. Build your base with the ultra-soft Tencel Trayce Turtleneck from Garconne in yellow. Then, build richness and contrast with the sultry, asymmetric French Lace Dress in wine. Complete the balancing act with these genuine lambskin bags from Walter Baker.

NAVY & CHARTREUSE
This combo is perfect for those who don't want to choose between professionalism and fun. Cult classics like Paloma Wool and Miu Miu are infamous for making this quirky, odd combination chic for the modern woman. In the same vein, we have this navy, fitted Pilot Jacket from our favorite workwear-meets-techwear brand, Porto. Anna, the designer of Porto, likes to jest that Porto has "200 shades of dark". The dark navy allows the yellow hues of chartreuse to pop, so we want to layer the Garconne Victoria Turtleneck underneath. The Bella Bootcut Jeans from Oraije come in a deep navy denim, finishing off the outfit with a sleek, uniform silhouette.

MAUVE & CHARCOAL
Sometimes it's less about a garment's color and more about its tone. This pairing works thanks to the warmth of a charcoally grey against the cool undertones in a mauvey pink. If it's not clear yet, we love a long sleeve layer at Clever Alice. We've been getting great ones from Seoul, South Korea, all season, like the High Neck Detail Warmer Tee. Texture is a great way to flesh out a color story as well. The soft ribbing of the Viviane Ankle-Wide Cords in Rose brings a romantic mood even in these harsh winds.

ESPRESSO & POWDER BLUE
Don't you love it when the colder weather rolls around, and we all remember how good a color brown is? As the darker, neutral version of orange, brown will almost always look good with blue. It's really about playing with shades and hues. And since the weather is practically flash-forwarding us into December, we're thinking in high-contrast holiday shades. We're bringing in the Victoria Turtleneck from Garconne again, this time in baby blue. Walter Baker's usual M.O. is leather, but this season he's sent us some fab faux-fur pieces. This cropped powdery vest is a great layer, and fits into the color story of our Abstract Print Skirts from Garconne.
